Sunday fun

Hi all,

I am missing my dog, I keep thinking she is probably crying a lot and that makes me crazy. I am hoping she will adjust well. We will go see her soon.

Yesterday (Sunday) was a really awesome day! We had planned an outing for everyone in our group.(church)We all brought our own food and had a Purepecha cookout. We played board games and soccer and laughed and joked. Greg taught about how important it was to get together as a church for the sole reason of having fun and fellowship. We had a few people come who have never attended and a few came who have not been in attendance in a long time.

Cesilia in the last picture here, seemed like her old self and had a good time. Salvador also came and although it seemed like he didn't want to have fun, he did. Annie got about as dirty as I have ever seen her and the boys enjoyed playing with friends, big and small.

I said that I would give you all an update on all 3 kids, so this is the update.
Jerod, who is 12, really likes to lead the children in activites during church. He doesn't like sports as much as his brother, but really loves to read! However, he is NOT popular among the older kids. (12-14) They are all bullies and not real nice and their mothers say, "We don't know how to teach our children how to behave." Duh... do SOMETHING! They just use that excuse and let their kids be how they will be. Which is generally not nice. So, he is really struggling with his role right now. I think our stateside assignment is coming at a good time for him. He really needs a break. Other than some mean kids, he does pretty well and really loves to be around Prisiliano. (new leader in the church)

Alex (almost 10)loves sports and is starting to love reading, but still really loves sports more than anything else. He really wants to be a professional football player when he grows up. Both Jerod and Alex will be on a homeschool football team in a league in Wake Forest,NC this fall. They are BOTH very excited about this opportunity! We are hoping this will be a good experience for them both. Alex loves it here and has no problem with the kids because he is still too young to be picked on. His personality is different and it seems to help him with the bullies. They leave him alone.

Annie (5) is doing great! Although she still has this part on her leg that is very red and still itches A LOT, she really is doing well. Her hand will never look completely normal because the skin is discolored, but she doesn't care. (we are still praying about all of the warts)She is our little princess and has a very big heart. When she hears someone is in need of prayer, that is just about all she thinks about. She has a very big heart for the underdog. Children who look different or of course those who have been burned, she just loves them sooo much. I know I have mentioned Clay, the little boy who was burnt. www.claydavidfite@blogspot.com Well, Annie has decided that she wants to send him something to make him feel better. We are recording some of her favorite books on a CD and we are going to send it to him. It is so precious to hear her tell the stories and explain the pictures to him. She also wants to send him a special prayer blanket because she loves the one that was sent to her!

I know I got long winded but wanted to get you up to date on all 3 of my little treasures! Thanks for praying for all of us! We love you for it!!

Saying Goodbye!

I have never liked good-byes and it wasn't any easier with our dog. I know she may not be the easiest to love because she barks a lot and jumps a lot but she is so sweet! I will miss her probably more than anyone in the family. Greg tried to be compassionate, but he was really happy to be rid of her. He is definitely NOT a dog lover. Anyway, I made it through the saying good-bye, I just hope she is happy on the farm. Thanks for praying! Love, Missy

General Update

Hi everyone,
I have tried all day to post this, I am making one final attempt!

I wanted to give you all an update on things here in San Lorenzo. Last night we had our Friday night meeting ,we had 16 adults attend and we were soo excited! (we usually have about 8-10 adults come)We were especially encouraged that Cesilia showed up. She hasn't attended in about 2 months and I really thought she had decided it wasn't for her. She came over to our home and shared that she was having a problem with another woman in the group. Doesn't that sound just like the churches in the states? So we talked about it and she is going to talk to the woman and clear the air. That is a praise!

The study went awesome and Prisilano (our hopeful new pastor) and Greg shared the teaching time and it went so well. The people talked and shared for a long time. The theme was what the bible has to say about worshipping idols. It is great when they come to terms themselves about what is wrong and what is right. They discussed this topic, using bible stories, for about 2 hours! I think they all saw Prisilliano as the new leader of the group! Great night!

I will share more about all 3 kids tomorrow. I have had many people ask about them. I quickly wanted to share about Annie's hand. I have mentioned that she has a ton of warts on her hand. After she had her hand burnt, one wart she had before, started to spread very quickly. Within 2 days her 3 middle fingers were litterally covered in warts. They are painful and look something like an alien. We tried banana peels for about 3 weeks and nothing happened. They continued to grow bigger and bigger. We tried the acid that one Dr. recommended and it was torture and didn't work! So, I researched on the internet and we are now trying duck tape. She has had them covered in duck tape for a week now. I will know how it is working in another week. Please pray that this works! If it doesn't I don't know what we will do! Thank you all for praying for our work here and for our family! We couldn't do this task without your covering us in prayer! Love to each of you!! Missy

Oh, Please pray for the kids and I as we have to give our dog, Coco away today. We are taking her to a friend's farm. We needed to find her a home before we leave for the states.

Annie creating her masterpiece

Annie with her picture

Annie's picture to Clay

Annie's school work

I told Annie that little Clay was having surgery today and we needed to pray. Of course in my mind I was thinking we could pray silently throughout the day. However, before I turned around to look at her, her head was bowed. She looked up as if I was crazy and said, "Well, we should pray now, right,Mommy?" My response, " Uh... sure honey, let's pray right now." So she began. Now, I never knew my daughter could pray better than me. I mean I am the adult, why all of a sudden do I feel like the student? "Jesus, (she began) You know Clay is hurting, and I know how he feels, You know that he is scared, I know how he feels, You knew he was going to get burnt, and You were there. Thank you for being with him and healing him." My eyes are still teary! I think Clay just might have a future wife here in Mexico. She decided to paint him a picture today in school. Keep in mind she is 5. I am sure his ears aren't that big! She has never seen a picture of him but did know he liked to fish. She painted him with a fishing pole and she added the black cowboy boots. I don't know if he owns cowboy boots, but she thinks he does! She also wanted him to have big, red, heart balloons. Anyway, I wanted to continue to plea with all of you to pray for Clay.
