Water......

Which is worse, NO water, or TOO much water? One thing I have learned about living in another country is every day is a new adventure! The other thing I have learned is that more than half of your time is spent just surviving. You learn to say, "If it isn't one thing, it is another." with joy and maybe even a giggle.

If you know me well, you know that one of my lifelong dreams is to be in the Amazing Race. If you don't know what that is, just google it and you can find out pretty quickly. Well, a few years back I decided that every challenging event that came my way I would look at as practice for the Amazing Race. So whether it is packing for a really long trip with limited space in our car, or going without water, or trying to hang a tarp to cover our leaking roof in the pouring rain, I see it as a challenge in the Amazing Race. It has served me well and has drastically changed my attitutude when doing these challenges.

So... when we arrived home Saturday afternoon after being in our old village for our church service on  Friday, we discovered that the rainy season was well underway and was leaking all over our school room and kitchen. Not to mention other parts of our house. So, an amazing race challenge began. Greg and I changed quickly into shorts and sandles and tried to cover the roof with a make shift tarp. It helped a tiny bit, but we had to do a little more work on it today. Then we saw another Amazing Race challenge, our front and back yard. They looked like small muddy lakes. So we then had to try and fill in the small lakes with gravel and rock. I have no idea what tomorrow's Amazing Race challenge will be, but I am a little tired and if it envolves soaking in a hot tub somewhere I would be really excited. Have no idea WHERE  we will find the tub, but I sure would like that kind of challenge right now! ;o)

Anyway, if I never make it to the actual Amazing Race, I will just know I have had some really wonderful challenges in this wonderful, AMAZING, RACE, called.... life! I am enjoying each and every day I have whether it be shoveling gravel, or sharing Jesus, I am a very satisfied lady! And.... I do appreciate so much all of your prayers for our family. Please do pray we can find some solutions for our water problems because rainy season has just begun! Love to you all!! Missy

Busy beavers!

Hi friends! I know it has been a long time since I updated. I am sorry. Our internet has been down for a few days and now we have it up and working so I thought I would take advantage of that and give you and update. We came home to a house with water! Huge praise!! We are all healthy today and that is always a plus! Another praise!

 We have been working away at getting our house organized and livable. It has required long days and lots of hard work. I will post pictures soon.  The boys have been working hard and have definitely proven they are not lazy. One day they helped Greg move loads and loads of rock and gravel out of our front yard. It was back breaking work that they did without complaining. ( or at least they didn't complain too much!)

We have been trying to have our stairs finished for about a month now and well... Mexicans don't really understand the word... NOW. We say we need it done now, that means, 2-3 weeks maybe more, to them. Well, our banister man (Miguel) is now building our banister and today something funny happened. He asked Greg if he could run him down to his house b/c he needed to get some more materials and he didn't have much gas in his car. So Greg agreed and drove him to his house. Greg said they walked into his house and he climbed a ladder onto his roof. Greg watched him to see what he was doing. Miguel started to take down the iron rod that was holding up his antenna for his television. Greg said he climbed down and looked at Greg with a sheepish grin and then looked at his wife and said, "Sorry, no soap operas tonight." The iron rod was for him to cut up and use for spindles in our banister. It was funny! Only in Mexico! I will attach a picture of our staircase soon as well so you can see what I am talking about.

The GREAT news... Miguel ( the banister man) asked us today if we could come to his house next week and share Bible stories with he and his wife. God is already opening doors and we are ready to get to work here in our new area! We have plans to eat lunch with a local pastor and his wife on Monday and come up with a strategy on how we can join together to reach the most amount of people. Please pray for us as we join forces with this pastor and his wife.

We went back to our old village last week and saw everything going great! We camped out in our old house. That will be our plan for a while. The kids loved it and for dinner we ate chips, candy bars and cookies. For breakfast we had doughnuts and juice.  It was so healthy, I am sure that is why they loved this camping trip so much! We are going to pack a cooler this weekend and hopefully eat a little better! We all are happy to return and see our friends each week, even if it is just for a night.
