Seven Dwarfs

Okay, I know Greg just posted but I wanted to respond to a few of your comments. I am feeling like we are the seven dwarfs because someone is always Sleepy, Sneezy, Happy, Grumpy, Dopey, Doc and Bashful. Okay so now you are all wondering who is who. Well.... I am really Sleepy, and Dopey, mainly because I am doped up and that takes care of the 2! :o) Greg is Sneezy and Doc, his allergies have definitely picked up, Annie is Happy, Grumpy, and Bashful, depending on her mood. :o) Then there are Jerod and Alex and they are always, Happy, Grumpy or Sleepy! So that covers them all! 

I must say we are all tired of someone being sick. I am hoping that Alex will be the last and he will be better tomorrow. I just have a second on here because our internet has been less than dependable (kinda like my health) and I wanted you all to know that I still need prayer as does the rest of our family. We do still have the same email address and if you need that you can ask and I will email it to you. Marlene, I haven't forgotten your request, I have just been under the weather. I will get back to you soon. If not, email me to remind me. If you have emailed and not gotten a response it is because we are just hangin' on each day and emails have taken a back seat. Sorry!  I will be 100% soon, I am banking on it! Love you all! Missy

Missy update

Missy continues to improve each day but it has been slower then what she would want.  She is still tired and lacks much energy.  She is taking a nap right now.  She has had more energy over the last few days but we are still trying to get her to take it easy.  Please continue to pray for her recovery and her headaches she still deals with almost daily.

Alex got sick last night and has thrown up twice since then so we have another one under the weather.  One day our family will all be healthy. 

We are hoping all will get healthy soon as we have a team coming in a little more then 2 weeks.  We are doing some planning for them and are excited to have some friends coming soon. 

Hi friends!

I'm BACK!! I have to say I am not all back, but I have enough energy to sit up and type and that is saying a lot. I have never in my life felt as weak and down in the dumps as I have these past 2 weeks. Every day I would wake up hoping to feel better and it never happened. I still want to sleep a lot! I do something and then I want to take about an hour nap.

Poor Greg, he has done everything. He has cooked, cleaned, done the laundry, taken care of the kids, prepared for our study at our fellowship 2 times and continued to do it all with a smile. Not to mention taking care of me. He has been on top of all my medication and knows when I need to take it and what I take. That in itself is a huge job, I am taking about 5 different medicines and they are all at different times. Please pray for him. I don't want his immune system to go down just because he is doing everything alone.

I was thinking of some things I wanted to share about my time in the hospital. Greg shared some about the food. One thing that was funny was I looked at everything on my tray and found what I thought was apple sauce. It was a little bitter so I added some sugar and then started eating it with a spoon. It was pretty good and when the food lady entered while I was eating, I was proud to let her see I was eating the food she had prepared. She just smiled at me and took a straw and put it in the applesauce and left with a big grin. I guess it was apple juice and it was just really thick. I just had to laugh at what she probably told all of her friends. "Those Americans sure are strange, that one was drinking her applejuice with a spoon!"

We can't understand their hang up with cold drinks. They ( all Mexicans) feel that if you are sick you should NEVER drink cold drinks. No ice cream, no cold beverage of any sort and absolutely no ice. Now, the first thing I had my family do was to buy some ice for my gatorade. I couldn't let them see it or they would shake their heads at me. I always had the fan on and they hated that. Some of the nurses would turn it off when they walked out of the room and then I would get up and turn it back on. These are some cultural differences.

I am sure I will think of more things to share with you but for now I will leave you with one request. Please pray I will be completely healed soon with all of my energy back. Happy 4th! Love you all  Missy

Missy update for Friday

We had our doctor visit today.  All checked out well and she will continue on the medications and slowly taper off on most over the next few weeks.  The doctor thinks all is going well and she just needs to take it easy for another week or so to avoid any relapse.

She is still very tired with little energy and still battles some headaches which the doctor said is normal.  Please pray that she will get her rest and regain her energy over the next week.  We have a team coming from Kingston Avenue BC in Anderson, Indiana in about 3 weeks and are hoping she has back at full strength by then.  The doctor told us sometimes it is 4-6 weeks before a person fully feels recovered.  We are hoping this is not the case but leaving it all in God's hand.

Wednesday update on Missy

We had our optometry appointment and all went well.  He said he saw no damage to her eye and has taken her off the eye drops we were giving her to help control the virus and damage.  Praise the Lord as that was a huge relief.

She is still very tired and has a headache a good part of the day.  Our doctor said this was normal unfortunately and she may have to deal with it for awhile.  She is really tired of not feeling well and having to lay around and rest.

Please pray that the pain and tiredness would subside soon.  We have an appointment with the doctor who took care of her while in the hospital on Friday so we should no more of her prognosis.

Thanks for the prayers and emails.  You all are an encouragement.

Home at last!!

Missy finally got checked out today around 1:00.  We are back home with a bunch of medicines to take and an eye doctor appointment tomorrow and another appointment on Friday with her main doctor who did the hospital care.  She has been told to take it easy for awhile and try to resist getting back into her busy normal lifestyle - which at this point she is not up to anyway. 

Continue to pray for restful and quiet days in the village which is not always easy(the quiet part).  Also that the eye doctor tomorrow would find nothing of concern. 

We, the kids and I, are a little worn out as well driving back and forth into town each day.  We got home last night at 6:00 and then went to our church meeting at 7:00 and after some food and fellowship did not get home until 10:00.  Jerod, Alex and I are off to a kid's birthday party right now for more food and fellowship.  We have a lot of people we went to catch up with and things that need to be done but we are going to try to pace ourselves.  It has definately not been the smoothest transition back from stateside but we are blessed that the village and especially our fellow believers have welcomed us back and we sense no uneasiness from anyone.
