Who is this woman?

The boys and I have been studying many famous people in History. We are learning many great things about our founding fathers and many other wonderful people who were famous for one reason or another. I found this picture of a very famous woman who was born in Virginia in 1840. I wanted to know if any of you know who she is.
The rules are: you are NOT allowed to google in order to find a similar picture or google the name of who you think it may be in order to find out if you are correct. You can only use your knowledge and this simple time in history to figure it out. We just want to see how many of you know who she is. Habib, you cannot play. You are just too smart and would ruin it for everyone! ;o)
Can't wait to see the results. I will give the answer on Monday the 9th! Please respond so it will make it fun! Love, Missy

  1. I have no clue but she is an attractive woman. I would love to see her with a modern haircut that enhances her features even more - - - just to see what she would look like in this century. I love "before and after" shows!

  2. I'll have to see if I can find a famous woman born in 1840 from Kansas and see if you can guess! I have no clue either, but I am suffering from the flu, so I'll console myself with low brain batteries today!

  3. Sorry Sharon, that you are sick! You had to come to the states to get the flu, huh? Keep thinking!

  4. Dear Missy,
I am not very good at history. She is very pretty and studious with her tie. First I thought she was Clara Barton. But I dont think she was born in Virigina. Maybe she was the founder of the Girl Scouts(whoever that was)? I dont think I am as smart as a fifith Grader! Have a great day.

  5. I was a Southern Baptist PK and my first thought was someone I learned about in G.A.'s (Girl's Auxiliary. I cheated unintentionally -I clicked on the picture.
I will be lifting your friends up in prayer as they struggle with what is cultural and what is spiritual.

  6. Dear Missy,

I think your friend Suzanne is correct. Im a Baptist and did not remember this picture. Could this be Lottie Moon (Missionary to China). I think it is fitting for you to study her since you are Missionaries. Thats awesome! Wishing you the best. Robin
