Hi friends and family,
We now have a confirmed surgery day and time. So, the time we need all of you to pray is from 11:45-2:45 tomorrow, Thursday, December 10, 2015. Greg's Doctor's name is Dr. Anthony Asher and he will have a team working with him, but I don't know how big that team will be.
We have our moments when we start to think about the what-ifs, but are really trying to capture those thoughts. Please continue to pray for us! We love all of you!
Here is a tip. If you know me well, you know I ain't your average missionary. I have a horrible ability to memorize and although I try, I don't have all the verses of the Bible down by memory! ;o) I am keeping it very real for all of you. So, if you want to encourage us, please write out the verse because I will not know what the verse is and won't have time to look it up! I need to have those encouraging verses sent our way, so please do send them!
Thank you all for walking and praying us through this journey.
Blessings, Missy
... But God did notcreate us from a spirit of fear, but of Power, Love and Self-control.
ReplyDelete2 Timothy 1:7
This verse has comforted me in times when I have NO control over situations, especially medical ones. As a worshipper, there is always a song in my heart. But, I recall a time I could not sing and THIS verse offered the comfort with His Promise that I needed.
Praying without ceaseing for you all.
Praying and love you and Greg_. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart". My daughter Paige put your family on her church's prayer list also.
ReplyDeleteI don't have references committed to memory but "do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Phil4:6-7. Praying this over you and Greg. ππΌπ
ReplyDeleteOh God, our Father, bless and help Greg Wood in the illness which has come upon him. Give him courage and patience, endurance and cheerfulness to bear all weakness and all pain; and give him a peaceful mind which will make his recovery all the quicker.Give to all doctors, surgeons and nurses who attend him skill on their hands, wisdom in their minds and gentleness and sympathy in their hearts. Help us not to worry too much, but to leave our loved one in the hands of the wise and skill full men who have the gift of healing, and in Your hands. Lord Jesus, come to us and to our loved one this day and at this time, and show us that Your healing touch has never lost its ancient power. This we ask for Your love's sake Amen.
ReplyDeleteMissy and family, this is a prayer from a book that Carl got for me in India. It is called Prayers for the Plain Man, by William Barclay (Selected & Edited by Fr. Trevor.) I hope it brings you comfort. I will keep Greg and all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Robin
Missy,
ReplyDeleteThis is Brian (and Gina). Unfortunately we know all too well what you are going through. Uncertain times, but knowing He is Good is comforting. We will be praying for you tomorrow, for skill for Dr. Asher and his team and peace for you and Greg and family.
Exodus 14:13-14 And Moses said to the people, "Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today...

ReplyDeletePsalm 60:1-4. Hear my cry O God,listen to my prayer;from the end of the earth I call to you, when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I; for you are my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. Let me dwell in your tent for ever! Oh to be safe under the shelter of your wings.
ReplyDeleteHi Missy
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me, but Jesus gives us a bond like none other. I want you to know that I am praying for your whole family as well as the surgical team. I hope that you can feel the many prayers upholding you. I hope you feel the concern all of us are feeling. I do know what it feels like to have a doctor's few words turn your entire world upside down as both my husband and I are cancer survivors. Please know that when we say we are praying, we really are. Hold tight to Jesus hand, just whisper His name to feel Him close. Thanks for keeping us informed through this blog. I am sure it is hard even putting things into words. Your sister in Christ, Diane

2 Corinthians 4:16-18
"Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. "
You guys have been on my mind all day. Praying earnestly for you! These verses have been a huge source of encouragement to me this year. I also would listen to a song called "though you slay me" by Shane and Shane almost every day. You should find it on YouTube! I love you guys!
