Brutal Honesty

Dear friends,

I only have a few minutes. I will have many pictures to post tomorrow, because it is Holy Friday and they do some really strange things tomorrow in honor of Jesus' death. I will be sure to have my camera handy! Anyway, I just thought all of my sweet friends out there could give me some sympathy. Not too long ago I was having a REALLY bad hair day and put my hair in a pony tail. During the months of Dec,Jan,Feb,Mar,Apr,and May we have no water. We have to have a water truck bring it to us. (The other months we can usually get by using almost pure rain water.)So, to save on water, I hadn't washed my hair in a few days and it was pretty bad. Anyway, I went to church one night and this precious lady pictured above walks in and says, your hair, it looks.....beautiful. I'm thinking...who is she talking to? She comes up to me and touches it and says, it's brushed, it's never brushed, I have never seen your hair look so pretty. You should wear it like that all the time. Okay, do I slap her or hug her? I am still trying to decide! :o) Just KIDDING!! I have now realized that it is because my hair looked like their hair for the first time, so I won't slap, I will hug, but I still took it as a backhanded compliment. Just thought you would enjoy this!

OH, the picture of Annie was just precious and I put it on here for no other reason! Hope you like it!

Another lesson

Hello friends!

I have just sent out our monthly newsletter, so if you did not receive it and would like to, please email me and let me know. I wanted to tell you that yesterday after I posted this about the chickens, it was as if they said, "Hey, we have another one for you!" I was in my kitchen and I saw one little chick wandering around chirping wildly for his mama. I went outside to see what he was doing. He had gone off looking for food by himself and had gotten lost. His mama didn't know where he was and he didn't either. When he saw me, he ran and hid. Then when I tried to catch him, he ran further away, right out into the street. He then found a big pile of rocks and hid under them. Poor little guy, he was so scared. I had to call Greg for help. Greg came out and helped me move the big pile of rocks and way at the bottom was this little black chick. I picked him up and looked at him, like, don't you know that you are in big trouble? I took him back into the back yard to find his mama. I looked and looked and couldn't find her. However, she heard him chirping and left the eight others (sound familiar)flew up on a fence, wings out, very mad, and was ready to fight for her baby. I threw the chick at her and they were all happy again.

Last night I was talking to our friend, Angelica. Salvador, pictured here, is her husband. Salvador accepted Christ about 2 years ago and has had a rough 2 years, but has done, okay. He is a very weak Christian. She said Salvador had started drinking again on Sunday. Salvador is a recovering alcoholic and hasn't been drinking for about 6 months. He reminded me of this little chicken, running away from the Father and he headed right for danger. He is very sad, lonely and confused. He can't seem to tear himself away from his desires. Please pray for Salvador and Angelica. Thanks for praying!!

Please also pray for our little friend Clay, who was burnt in February. www.claydavidfite.blogspot.com He has had a rough few days and is really needing some extra prayer cover. Without you praying, don't know where we would be! Love to you all! Missy

In danger of the "hawk"

See post below to understand. Please pray! He is away from the Father.

Learning from Chickens

Our son Jerod, has been raising chickens for some time now. We have had fun watching them grow. There is a lot you can learn from watching chickens! We have first discovered that just like with our own children they learn by watching their parents. The babies immitate their mamas. Whatever the mamas do, the babies do. If they look for food, then the babies look for food, if the mama sleeps, the baby sleeps and so on. I thought of this when I was thinking about Chavo, and Rosa.(pictured below) If the father hit his mom, the son probably will too, if the wife stood there and took it, then the daughter will think she is supposed to as well. Hopefully we can change the direction of their teaching.

Another lesson we have learned is that there is a very large bird that looms in the trees above. It is something like a hawk. One of Jerod's hens had 13 babies and each day the hawk would swoop down and grab up a baby for dinner. So after 13 days, all of her babies were gone. We see that happen around here all the time. If the babies don't stay really close to their mama the hawk will be able to grab the babies. However, if the babies stay relatively close to their mama, they can stay safe. It is the same way with our people here. If they stay close to the Father, by reading their Bible, coming to our studies, seeking help for their problems, and praying, then they are safer from the enemy that looms around us waiting to seek and destroy. However, if they are wandering alone away from the security of the ONE who loves them, they are in danger. Just like that tiny little chicken in the open, is in danger of the hawk carrying him away. Please pray they will stay close to the Father.

Rosa and Chavo

This is Rosa and Chavo. She is 18 and he is 21. They have been married for a little more than 4 years and have already had one child who died at 6 months old (about 3 years ago) and have had their ups and downs as any couple does. Anyway, they have been coming to our church for the past year and have both given their hearts to the Lord. However, they still have many problems they need to overcome. The main one right now is abuse. It is the "custom" here that if a woman doesn't obey her husband, it is okay to beat her. We are dealing with this now as we are trying to teach them that they can't do this to their wives. When their customs are against what the Bible teaches, they,as believers, have to choose to follow the teachings of the Bible. We are going to talk to them today about some things that have recently taken place. Please pray that this conversation goes well. Pray that Chavo would have an open mind and open heart and that we can restore peace to an unpeaceful situation. Some things have happened that I can't mention on here, but you can use your imagination. Some days I want to run away from the situations at hand and the past few days I have definitely wanted to run away. Please pray! Love you all!

Hmmm....makes you think, huh?

Get the picture? We saw this today and just had to take the picture. I don't know if you can see the picture well, but it is of a Mexican soccer team sponsored by AIG. If you don't know, AIG was given a lot of bail out money in the recent "stimulus package." We thought it was quite interesting that they have money to sponsor a Mexican soccer team but needed money from the government to keep things afloat. Money well spent, what do you think?

Cuatro

Hello! Thanks to all of you for the advice on my carpel tunnel! I am going to take it all into consideration! Today I am feeling a little better and thought I would tell you a story about prayer. Well, prayer and well....prayer. Okay this happened last year but I thought all of you would enjoy the story because it is quite the story. We inherited a dog when we started living in the house where we live. His name was Cuatro. He was just an old mutt but he was a sweet dog and I loved him. Greg was never very fond of him but of all the dogs that were around our home, he actually thought he was the best. One day Cuatro was hit by a car in front of our house. His back leg was broken and we were pretty sure his pelvis was broken too. He couldn't stand up at all. He was so pathetic. He would just cry and he would use the bathroom right where he was lying because he couldn't do anything else. So I sent Greg into town to find a vet that would come out to out village and put him to sleep. He searched and searched but no one would do it. Finally one man said he had an injection that he gave cows to put them down and he would give him that. However, he didn't give it in the right area and he just suffered all night long. It was horrible. I prayed God would heal him, but he was still really bad off. SO, I called a missionary friend who was a vet and he said just to give him as much over the counter medicine as I could and that should put him out of his misery. It was the only thing we knew to do to put him to sleep. So, I put about 50 pellets of rat poison, 20 Dramamine, 10 Tylenol PM and 10 Benadryl tablets all in hotdogs and hamburgers and fed it to him by hand. He ate every bite. Then I sat there holding him and cried. I prayed and prayed that God would either heal him or take him quickly so he wouldn't suffer anymore. I left him on our porch that night and said good-bye. The next morning I made Greg go see if he was still alive or not. He said, " Uh...Miss.. you need to come here." I said, " NO Greg, I can't bare to see him." He said, "No, you really need to come and see this." So, I reluctantly went to the window and what did I see? Cuatro running across the yard! Yes, he is our miracle dog!! The picture above was taken 2 weeks ago! He is the dog that God wasn't done with!! Just thought I would share that with you!! Love ya!
