We don't like baths!

Hi everyone,

I (Missy)am trying to find things to write to you that will be of importance to each of you without boring you with the details of our daily life now. Our biggest struggle with Annie is bath time. Bless her heart, she screams at the first sound of the water running. She is petrified of this time of day. She cries during the entire bath saying, "I can't stop looking at my booboos." The bath itself is scary for her, and we now know that she doesn't want to see her booboos and she doesn't like anyone else to see them either. We tried using sunglasses but that didn't seem to help. She is very "hung up" on when her skin will look normal. Unfortunately we don't know when that will happen, if ever. At first I was a little bummed about her having to wear this body suit and now we are counting that as a blessing because it hides her burns. Please pray for a calmness during her bath time. Also pray that she will start going potty without fear. We know these are small issues to deal with and are so grateful to God that the worst is now over. (we hope)
We went to see the movie Kung Fu Panda today and I was struck by a very neat saying. They said, " Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift, that's why they call it the present." I really liked this saying and it spoke to my heart. I am glad her accident is over, and I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but today has been awesome and I am rejoicing in the now. We are amazed at how many people Annie is touching. One day she will understand just how big our God is!
This first picture was taken on Sunday at church as Annie worshiped and the second one is of Annie with Shriner.

We still are in the wait and see mode until Tuesday. At that point we will know more about our future. Until then we are focusing on walking better, using our right hand and dealing with fears. As soon as we know when we will be able to leave the Texas area, we will let you know. Love you!

  2. Hola,
As we are preparing for a bible study tomorrow night I looked over at one of the songs that we made copies of to sing and it reminded me of how special friends are and how our best friend is Jesus and how he is there for us. "Yo tengo un amigo que me ama, me ama, Yo tengo un amigo que me ama Su nombre es Jesus. Have a good weekend. Annie I love your "Shriner" ! Love you guys and praying for you.

  3. I am so deeply touched by your courage...each one of you but especially yours Annie. God told the heart of a warrior, "Be stong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Jos 1:9 I have been in prayer for you Annie since I first learned of your accident and I have thought often about how much Jesus loves children. I believe his heart is moved deeply by any kind of suffering but especially that of children. He is with us, whereever we go. Jesus is with you, sweet Annie, in the tub. He is with your mom in the still of the night. Jesus is alongside of your brothers as they grapple with all the change and with your dad too as he does his best to lead your family. Take courage, dear one- your Jesus is with you. Sending you love and blessings from Costa Rica, Kathy Carlson

  5. We went to see Kung Fu Panda today too! I bet it felt good to laugh. We are praying for your Dr's visit on Tuesday a long with the our other prayers for all of you. Tell the boys we are praying for them too. We have made apples for you....so we too can take them down...just like a VERY special family did for us during a time we needed them. :) I can't wait to take these down and praise God for the answers He has given!

    Love you!

  6. Missy,
Your testimony of your special day today...brought tears to my eyes. It reminded me of the mountain we climed after the baptism of our 4 Huichol sisters, Grant on our team reminded us that we are to praise God in the good and in the bad. Praising Him and being reminded of Him in a movie is precious. I am glad that today your heart sings. I am praying specifically for peace for Annie, for healing and for acceptance of each day that God gives her; praying that she can praise Jesus in all things. Love to you all,
